June 9 -- Summer classes begin
Aug 21 -- Summer classes end
Sept 2 -- Fall classes begin
Nov 24-28 -- Closed for Thanksgiving
Dec 22-Jan 2 -- Closed for Christmas/New Years
Mar 16-20 -- Closed for Spring Break
*Classes WILL be held during teacher in-service and parent/teacher conference days.
*During inclement weather, the studio will follow the Fayetteville Public School closings - make-up classes will not be given in this case.
*Tuition will be the same every month even if classes are missed. Remember that some months have 5 weeks instead of 4.
Tuition is due on the first of each month. Please do not leave your cash or check on the desk itself, as the studio will not be held responsible for lost payments. Please write your child’s name and “tuition” on your payment. Payments made after the 10th of the month will result in a $20.00 late fee, and payments made after the 20th of the month will result in an additional $10.00 late fee and dismissal of the student until tuition and late fees are paid in full.
Regular attendance is required. Students must arrive to class on time. Students should attend each class for maximum benefit and progress as they can easily fall behind by missing. If a student must miss a class, he or she may make up the absence in a similar class. Please discuss this with the student’s teacher or the director.
Classes at which 4 students or less are in attendance will be treated as a semi-private lesson; they will run for 45 min.
*All students are required to wear dance clothes. Acceptable attire would include a leotard or other form-fitting top, tights, jazz pants, and appropriate shoes.
*Ballet classes are expected to wear pink tights and black leotards. Dance skirts are acceptable in intermediate and advanced level classes (This excludes Creative Movement students who may wear more “creative” dance attire).
*Students’ hair should be pulled back from their faces and off of their necks. Buns will be required for ballet.
*No jewelry.
*Hip-hop students will be allowed to wear tennis shoes or dance sneakers, but no t-shirts.
*No gum, candy, or drinks allowed in class.
*No talking.
*No disrespect will be tolerated toward the teacher or other students. In this case, dismissal from class will result. No refund will be given to students who are dismissed from class for disciplinary reasons.
*Adherence to the dress code will be expected. Students who are not dressed properly will not be allowed to take class.
*Parents are not allowed in the classroom unless it is designated in-class observation day.
*All parents and students are asked to leave the studio as they found it to cut down on clean-up for the staff at the end of the evening.
*UNATTENDED STUDENTS: Though extra precautions are being taken with the security and well-being of your child, please encourage your child to remain in the lobby while awaiting your arrival. Students ages 3-6 years will be asked to remain in the classroom until the parents pick them up. Parents, if you know that you will be late to pick your child up, please notify your child’s instructor or call the studio.
The Art of Motion’s Spring Recital 2009 will be held on Sunday, May 17 at Har-Ber High School in Springdale. A mandatory dress rehearsal will take place on Saturday, May 16 in the morning. Participation in the recital will not be required in order to take monthly classes, but confirmation will be expected in January with the purchase of costumes. A recital fee of $25.00 per student and $35.00 per family with multiple students enrolled will be due in April. With your recital fee, you will receive 2 free tickets.
No parents are allowed in the classrooms during class, and two-way mirrors will not be used at the studio in order to keep distractions to a minimum and maximize your child’s learning ability. However, it is important for you to be involved in your child’s education, so in-class observation days will be held at the director’s discretion. Exceptions will be made for out of town visitors. Children under the age of 7 will not be allowed to observe unless there is an extenuating circumstance. Disruptive observers, including parents, will be asked to leave.
Payment for costumes will be expected in January. Beginning level classes will have only one costume. Prices per costume usually range between $50.00 and $60.00.
Unless informed otherwise, The Art of Motion will consider photographs taken of The Art of Motion students to be permissible for publication in The Art of Motion informational publications, including the web.
Before 6:00pm, please use one of the 4 spaces directly in front of the studio. If these spaces are not available, please park anywhere on the far side of the lot closest to Green Acres Road. After 6:00pm, park wherever you like. Please follow these guidelines as a courtesy to the surrounding businesses who share our parking lot.
Space rental will be available for birthday parties and special events. See the director for details.
The Art of Motion Performing Company exists in order to provide students who are interested in a serious dance education the opportunity to pursue their goals. Commitment, competence, conditioning, and community outreach will be cornerstones of the Company. Company goals include offering an on-going program of performances in the community, participating regularly in educational conventions and competitions, and attending other area performances. These activities will allow the more serious students to realize their potential and broaden their frame of reference through performing and observing the art of dance.
Participation in The Art of Motion Performing Company will require a considerable commitment; weekend rehearsals will be called before performances and competitions; there will be strict attendance requirements regarding both regular classes and performances. However, the rewards will be many: increased skill in the art of dancing, the joy of being part of a team effort, the thrill of performing for an appreciative audience.
Auditions for the 2009/2010 season will take place in June of 2009. They will be open to any dancer who is above the age of 8 with preference given to students with a background in more than one form of dance.
Special Note:
If you are enrolled in our electronic draft program, at least a 30 day notice must be given if dropping a student. Otherwise, the tuition payment will still come out for the next month and will not be refunded.
